Red dress night

All hail this years Oscars red carpet walk as it was truly red. Yes the return of the red dress signals attitude and new directions (whether for good or bad) and Sandra Bullock for one needed and worked the Vera Wang red dress on her red carpet walk. I love a red dress and feel it is rightfully re-established.

Quote of the Week

Paula Reed was very complimentary of Victoria Beckham's new collection at New York Fashion Week, stating there were a few items she's have in a heartbeat, but she did come out with a classic line worthy of re-quoting

"It doesn’t pretend to explore anything beyond the world of the red carpet and restaurants with doormen"Still you've got to love a red dress moment! And this one is wearable in many a situation.

Just as I finish my dissertation...

...yes, yes, bar the final few bits of proofing and the typesetting offer from the marvellous Delicious Industries, I done it!! 'That Red Dress Moment - Hollywood’s continuing love affair with the red dress, the ultimate motif for narrative change and character revelation' is complete.

Having 'nailed it' I decided to indulge in browsing and imagine my surprise when The Times current fashion slide show happens to be the red dress.
This Vionnet number is my favourite. I saw the model in a red dress on another blog (don't remember which one as my mind is on halt mode) and didn't even register the fact as the discussion was how lovely the female model is ... and she is.

The Red Dress (part 2)

My seemingly forever MA comes to an end in December. I have called upon you very recently for primary research on my dissertation. This is my final time of asking (I feel quite weepy).

I present to you four images of 1950s screen icons. You may or may not be familiar with all of them. Please tell me who is your favourite and why. I also have a vote in the right hand of the blog on the same four actresses.

Doris Day

Audrey Hepburn

Grace Kelly

Marilyn Monroe

The Red Dress (part 1)

Vogue <span class=

Once again I draw upon you for my academic research! Last time your fabulous form filling helped me get 84% in my contextual studies essay!

My MA dissertation is about the red dress. I won't bore you or reveal my full examination/question just yet, but I would like to ask you to comment on these two photos of Cate Blanchett in a red dress.

What is your reaction to women when they are wearing a red dress?
How do you feel when you wear a red dress?
