Pleated and defeated
About six years ago I bought a pleated skirt from H&M that I loved. I wore it loads and swore I'd never part with it. It was a proper to the knee black full pleated skirt. Then I had the petit garcon and when I tried on my pleated skirt apres maternity clothes I sort of didn't like the way it accentuated my hips. In a fit of pique I either sold it on ebay or gave it to charity.
I miss that skirt and I'm continually searching for its replacement. And boy was it cheap at £24.99.
What I want is my old skirt, I don't want it longer than the knee or a much shorter version. In my mind on the knee or very slightly above is the perfect pitch for the pleats.
This number is nearly there from Topshop. I have two issues, one is that it might be too long and the second is the fact I'm on a style challenge so a high street purchase is out of the question.

Behold the new skirt option
By rights I should save this for a high st pick of the week, but my world is still spinning. And I'm fixated by this skirt shape. I got to do a great little project today with the truly wonderful Fashionistable. It's not top secret but it isn't mine to bandy about. I'll provide more info when it comes to fruition. Anyway...in the midst of being busy I noticed more and more of the flippy just on or below the knee skirts that swish when you walk.
I spied this one in Mango when selecting items for a style and fashion event. It is a poor man's Louis Vuitton for the swishy hip factor but it is a great number for the riding out the UK autumn and winter in style.

You could go either way with this skirt, all out aviator jacket and shearing boots or a cute jacket and courts a la (no yawning now) Mad Men.

High Street Pick of the Week
Being neither a fan nor a foe when it comes to Victoria Beckham, I don't have a strong view on her 'collection'. I do have a view that models, ex-pop stars do not make fashion designers unless they've trained for it. However, retailing is a business and anything goes to sell, sell, sell.
I've found this skirt at Ted Baker which can give you the peplum look at a fraction of the price that VB's stuff is selling for.

High Street Pick of the Week
This skirt from M&S is a steal at £19.50 and is actually gold (their photo doesn't capture this very well!) The styling on the photo isn't a big seller so think of wearing it more like Emily Watson in the glorious Teen Vogue photo shoot
