Big stripes

I'm trying to ignore the slowly brewing Prada fashion fix of big stripes. I love Prada and whilst the catwalk collection was not to my taste I can see how the effect is trickling down and the execution from catwalk to shop floor looks different when you can put your own spin on it.

Love it or hate it (I did at first but am now leaning more to the accepting!) big stripes are going to get ya! I like the pink and orange number below once you minus the hair, make up and freaky accessory thing.

What do you think and are you going to pair your big striped number with a sombrero!

A new take on the Breton top

Given I have a tendency to live in stripes, I always make an effort to not wear them, otherwise I would be left with a wardrobe or drawer of striped garments. I also have a thing for fair isle but Mr MDS is a bit intolerant of it so over the years I've curbed this one.

Nothing could persuade me to part with my stripes so I was quite pleased when Jean Paul Gaultier presented a slight twist on the Breton top with his S/S 2010 collection.

The criss cross of striped threads with the underwear revealed, paired with arm length gold cylindrical stripes gives one another shot at displaying one's stripey wardrobe collection/love whilst embracing the new of the season.

The traditional stripe on display with the rear view. The resplendent orange fluid draped trousers allows me to continue a perennial S/S indulgence that of stripes, orange and navy blue. For some reason in spring and summer I become a creature of habit and leave experimenting behind. Mind you my top tip for this look is less cakes and more gym. With bodies being exposed from New York to London then Milan and Paris I think next season might be a body discipline challenge too far.

End of Summer...

As Autumn fast approaches, I can feel it in the air, I get giddy and quite excitable. I'm a big fan of Summer but Autumn is my favourite time. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of Winter I do appreciate the seasons. The changes in landscapes even in cities create different atmospheres.

Yet surprisingly I'm finding myself drawn to a micro trend for A/W that falls into the first two drops of the season category. The first two drops for stores takes place in late summer to early autumn and then drops 3 and 4 are usually the best coming in late Sept/early October. Hence the need in fashion journo speak for transitional pieces. And you do need them in a temperate climate such as the UK. There are definitely some items if you don't get now they'll be gone, like coats but equally is stock moving as fast as it did a couple of years ago? We'll soon see.

I've noticed a perennial summer piece the stripe enjoying an autumnal appearance and the image below from the Jigsaw A/W 09 lookbook captures this perfectly.

Whistles have a number of key stripy pieces and this purple stripy dress looks like a winner for layering.

A right royal indeed

One of my favourite blogs (you know I love ya all) is the Cherry Blossom Girl. About a week ago she posted a piece about Margot Tenenbaum a character from the file The Royal Tenenbaums, a very funny Wes Anderson number.

I loved the post mainly because I realised I was Margot Tenenbaum, well obviously not completely Margot but put together my top three clothing loves, stripes, faux fur and loafers and well I might as well be.

In fact these little beauts of a tasseled loafer are my fav shoe this season, now all I need is £125!

Not for everyone I know, those who love a taser heel or any heel full stop. But who have you stumbled across recently that fits your bill?
