Given I have a tendency to live in stripes, I always make an effort to not wear them, otherwise I would be left with a wardrobe or drawer of striped garments. I also have a thing for fair isle but Mr MDS is a bit intolerant of it so over the years I've curbed this one.
Nothing could persuade me to part with my stripes so I was quite pleased when Jean Paul Gaultier presented a slight twist on the Breton top with his S/S 2010 collection.
The criss cross of striped threads with the underwear revealed, paired with arm length gold cylindrical stripes gives one another shot at displaying one's stripey wardrobe collection/love whilst embracing the new of the season.
The traditional stripe on display with the rear view. The resplendent orange fluid draped trousers allows me to continue a perennial S/S indulgence that of stripes, orange and navy blue. For some reason in spring and summer I become a creature of habit and leave experimenting behind. Mind you my top tip for this look is less cakes and more gym. With bodies being exposed from New York to London then Milan and Paris I think next season might be a body discipline challenge too far.

Strangely enough I have just joined a gym and have my induction session today with a hunky young Australian called Peter.
ReplyDeleteHi there-pleased to hear stripes will still be in, I'm trying to increase my wardrobe with them!!
ReplyDeleteNice !
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing a fun twist on my favorite staples, but as for wearing this, I'm not so sure! :)
ReplyDeleteI live in stripes too. I actually hadn't looked at the back of these tops, had no idea the stripes on the back were 'regular'. Love them!
ReplyDeleteThey're great, but I think I'd want to wear something underneath!
ReplyDeleteMaybe a plain vest.
How cool! love those.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I have been buying stripey tops this weekend....
The first hat looks really interesting.
ReplyDeleteI like your Breton tee better than these.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, a true delight!
ReplyDeleteA great man once said taht fashion should be an enough inspiration for staying thin.
ReplyDeleteI love your top tip, Kate. :)
ReplyDeleteNo such thing as too many stripes! LLGxx
ReplyDeleteI'd have to cut down on the Cadbury.
ReplyDeleteI like stripes, and I love a good Breton top, but I think M. Gaultier missed the mark on these, I'm afraid. Genius he may be, but these are way too close to those slashed-up t-shirts so beloved of hipster teen-aged fashionistas.
