At last something to love

A year IS a long time in fashion. Who can forget the debacle that was the Lindsay Lohan for Emmanuel Ungaro. Well within the year they've done the sensible thing and hired a proper designer. Giles Deacon at the helm has delivered a feast of texture, fabric and a modern 30s vibe that has me smiling. Feathers, silk, plaits and a stripy top. The lovely Fashion's Most Wanted has the first pics and go feast your eyes on them not least for Anna Della Russo modelling!

Equally at Celine there is much to praise due to the continuum of the aesthetics Phoebe Philo has brought to the house. She hasn't veered much off script - enough to add detail and dimension but enough of the same to build the best of stylish wardrobes. Clever Celine in these times. But thank goodness for frivolity too, bless you Giles I'll be packing my bicycle basket with lashings of ginger beer, wrapping a feather boa around my neck and kicking up a heel or two come summer. Now all I have to do is grow my hair super quick!

  1. Glad you've found something to love. It's been disappointing this time. Speaking of the 30s - I also loved YSL. Streamlined and chic with some beautiful dresses...and I'm always a sucker for a belt! xx

  3. Bicycle baskets, lashings of ginger beer and feather boa's now that's a fashion moment I could embrace. Now I'm just going to get mummy to make me some scrummy jam drops and I'm off to the shops!

  4. I think the latest fashion weeks are slow-burners - some of the big labels have been disappointing, but I've found some great looks from smaller designers or in places I wouldn't normally expect.

  6. Loving the leather top and the quirky bag but the trousers look worryingly like trackie bottoms. xxx

  8. To be honest it could still have been Lohan for Ungaro for me I really wasnt impressed, neither with Celine or YSL. I think Viktor and Rolf are my favourites so far, the shirt-pants were genious!

  10. I LOVED those Ungaro pictures, thanks for the link. The label is truly back on track. And I won't tell you about my one Ungaro experience, as I can't ruin them all for you ;) No, just kidding, he was quite the gentleman and struck me as an exacting perfectionist.

  11. Fashion Herald -you can I love your stories. The Stella one is steller!
Fashion is a hard business, one can forgive old folks making silly decisions but personal insults are a different matter!

  13. Dear Kate, I'm so pleased you liked Ungaro. I did too. The general consensus is that Giles has done a great job after the Lohan disaster. I have my eye on the pale blue one shoulder long dress and a pair of the sunglasses with flowers and butterflies on.

There's a little film on Vogue where you can see Anna getting fitted and a much better view of the accessories.

I liked Celine too. I wasn't as blown away as I was by last season. Although I have totally agreed with you on all the bad ones!!
