Prada - I cried!

Never before have I wept tears of disappointment when it comes to a fashion show. Now I have. Every year since well as far back as I can remember I've looked forward to a Prada show. There's been some highs and some lows but on the whole when Muiccia talks I'm usually listening.

I know the show is a spectacle and well yes being bold is interesting but oh please what was that. It is so not great even Style.com haven't listed it in their previously in Milan category. It is hidden in the All Shows bit. Prada is usually top 5 billing.

It wasn't just the clothes, but the shoes and the bags. I felt cheated. I will wait to see the show to store translation but so far I'm out.

I've picked three item I would wear and of which the first two I could knock up in a jiffy!

I might be being harsh or 'not getting it' but I have relied on Muiccia for her eye for print and detail and this sort of makes me feel a bit cheated. I will digest with the help of Andrews Liver Salts...

  1. I just want to know why the models are lugging those fake fur snake draught excluders around with them. What on earth is the first woman wearing on her feet, Ronald McDonald's slippers?! xxx

  2. I thought the collection seemed to have been influenced by the last Balenciaga collection, did you? Particularly the football shoulders on some of the sweaters.

  3. Goodness, are they the best bits? Not really special enough for Prada, how disapointing. e xxx

  4. snowystylista - these are the only ones I could cope with -the rest were poor imitations of Sonia Rykiel on acid!

  5. Dear Kate, there was nothing there for me this season. It will be quite bizarre and unflattering on most people if it did nothing for these models. The hair and make up didn't help either. I quite like the stoles (but not the stripy ones) but they just carried them instead of wearing them. And I like the quilted shoes Daiane is wearing in look two. But that's it sadly xx

  6. Yup! You picked the best looks.

You're the first person I've seen online who didn't like the collection and I finally don't feel so alone. Everyone is saying what "genius" it is. IT WAS HIDEOUS! AN EMBARRASSMENT! Just plain awful.

  7. I liked the shoes which looked like woven leather and the sombreros but one model seemed to be wearing a tea towel across her shoulders.

  8. Hmm. Yawn.

I can see why you feel cheated, clearly that collection was 'phoned in'. Which seems to be a phrase I have to use a lot these days...

  10. I only picked out a few looks I liked to, to be honest this whole fashion month is not inspiring me, fingers crossed for paris! I have to add my tears as Chris Kane why, why would fluro leather speak to anyone, why!!

  11. If you hadn't told me these looks were Prada I would have assumed they were Calvin Klein. It's all a bit sad isn't it?

  14. Wow. I've been too busy to pay much attention to the collections and had missed this. It is just... tacky. Ill fitting. Garish. Yuk.

Some of the separates were OKAY. But okay really isn't good enough for Prada, is it? And the shoes were horrible. And the styling was way off.

Ho hum, at least some other label gets a look in this season huh!

  15. I saw some random photos of the collection and thought they were Sonia Rykiel. When I read the credits I was shocked and disappointed.

  16. I was so disappointed too. It really was like it was designed by somebody else. I was also totally deflated by Dries van Noten - whose colours I usually love - but not to this degree. After the last fabulous collection it's a horrible shock!

  17. Ack! After last season, this looks like a bit of a comedown, but I'm thankful that their hemlines aren't at knicker-flashing levels unlike SS10 *shudders*. I didn't like that collection at all, at least I can find small redeeming points in this one (the striped tops worn with fitted skirts, I quite liked those. And the absurd hats).
