Where is London's most iconic film location?
When you think of a film and London, what location springs to mind?
Mrs MDS asks because on Monday she is being interviewed about fashion and film for a magazine and she is racking her brains for the best location for a photo! As well as tearing her hair out on what to wear...

The Lloyd's Building or Notting Hill...
ReplyDeleteI love South Molton street.... and Soho... but indoors Claridges xx
ReplyDeleteElder Steet E1 - people always used to film there, well 11 years ago when I was an uptown girl they did! Or Spitalfields which is nearby. Wear the outfit you bought when out with Sharon, love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I don't know the actual name of the location, but a detailed description - outside John Hurt's (as Stephen Ward) mews house in the film Scandal about the Profumo affair would be one choice for me, and I love Shepherd's Market in Mayfair too. You will know that I am not a Londoner, but I love to visit x
ReplyDeleteI have no idea! On a bus? Walking past the Houses of Parliament?
ReplyDeleteAs I don't like there, I wouldn't have any suggestion - but what fun - congratulations and good luck!!
ReplyDeleteThe infamous Aylesbury Estate in Camberwell/Southwark. It's been used in music video i.e Madonna's 'SORRY', TV drama 'SPOOKS' etc http://filmfixer.co.uk/locations/122-southwark-council-estates/4190-aylesbury-estate/#SouthwarkCouncilEstates
ReplyDeleteHi my dear-sounds a fabulous experience, hope it goes really well wherever you film and whatever you wear-you'll look gorgeous!! xxx
ReplyDeleteSouth Bank by the river Thames can't beat the views although its bit windy at the mo
ReplyDeleteOooh how thrilling!!! Some thoughts... Selfridges beauty hall is gorgeous or what about The Victoria and Albert museum in the fashion section? Exterior shots what about Picadilly circus, totally busy and unmistakeably London...or Carnaby street for fab retro vibe...or Camden market which is gothtastic!! The parks are wonderful too if you want green space...or how about Trafalger square?
ReplyDeleteI always think of those Mews houses in Scandal, to me they are the iconic London pad. No idea where they are in the Big Smoke, I know Bomaby better than London! xxx
ReplyDeleteSounds really interesting! I think you should wear the new outfit you bought on your shopping day with Sharon from My Style. I've only been to London a couple of times as a tourist so can only think of the houseboats area in Chelsea or maybe the Royal Hospital Chelsea with some of those cheeky and lovable Chelsea pensioners providing support. xx
ReplyDeleteRef the Mews house in Scandal- it is Wimpole Mews in the Marylebone area - so that is a very good shout!
ReplyDeleteI was also gonna say Nothing Hill, and plus we were gonna watch it tonight!! :)
ReplyDeleteMarylebone Station. Used at the beginning of the Ipcress File as well as in a Hard Day's Night
ReplyDeletexx
I saw Notting Hill last night, so it is on my mind, but I really think about the glorious semi-circle of grand white flats across the street from Regent's Park, if I remember correctly.
ReplyDeleteDear Kate, I'm with Vix, Mayfair, Belgravia or Marylebone mews houses, garden squares, the Hugenot houses in Spitalfields and East end streets like the terraces around Columbia Road, which look just like your first picture. My favourite hotel is Claridges and I love the interior xx
ReplyDeletePS. Yes I'm with Ruby - I forgot to say Soho, it has to be on the list. I spent most of my teenage years and twenties in various drinking establishments xx
ReplyDeleteMany places really, the first to spring to mind are the Thames for James Bond boat chases and the square we shot in for the Da Vinci code. What to wear - something dramatic I would say. Xxxx
ReplyDeletedefinitely "Notting Hill", the area where Hugh Grant strolls through seasons ( if you know what I mean).
