It was the ease of the look, the slight chic edge that was effortless. She was wearing a black leather jacket, I hesitiate to use the word bomber but it was of that vein. A navy v neck knit, a dark grey or black a-line skirt accessorised by black nails. It was simplicity and it was perfection. Except I realised that along with the fact concluded years ago that I wasn't Grace Kelly, I'm also not French. I'm also currently not as clever as Agnès but there is hope on that front.
Oh well c'est la vie!
I love to dress like french thats the reason i like more stripes. But iam not sure if i pull it off well

I have French envy galore... there is something about how they dress and accessorize that I just can't seem to emulate! The best compliment ever is when people mistake me for being French - must be my trademark nautical stripes, and them not knowing what they're talking about!

ReplyDeleteHi, I am an American living in France and I have to say that there are a whole lot of French woman that look like hell. I really don't think that there are more stylish woman in France, it's just that's all that the media shows. France is filled with tacky, fat, badly-dressed people, just like other countries. I am about to post a video on my blog that will show you what the average French person looks like. No joke. I do love France and I do think that there are beautiful things to buy in this country and the overall style is more pleasing to me than American style, but Americans need to see more of the real France so as not to idealize the French.

Carol - I'm well travelled in France and yes I do agree but on the whole the Parisians do have that special something. There are stylish women the world over and tacky ones too. I think on balance I can accept my lack of French ease but still admire it. You gotta love their bread, cheese and wine too!

ReplyDeleteI love the style of Parisian women. I think it mostly has to do with their confidence though. They know they are sexy and beautiful and whatever they wear, they wear so much better.

ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm with Wendy B on the whole French style thing...I think that it is perhaps more myth than reality, like the myth of the French lover. And there is nothing that the French like more than to perpetuate those myths!
