High Street Pick of the Week - The 2011 Style File

The wedge is an essential for a stylish wardrobe and is a key ingredient to any 1930s or 1970s pastiche or hommage.

It has been a long held wish of mine to own a Chloe pair - a girl has to dream!


This season the wedge takes on flatter form -some are calling it the 'flatform' but to you and me it is a wedge with a newish twist.

In lieu of a lottery win Mrs MDS is rather taken with these from Office - no picture folks due to silly website not allowing image saving nor having all their pieces on PRShots. Oh well - so click this link to take a peek. Let me know what you think! And do you have any favourites.

    Luckily I have a couple of pairs, so they are not on my list for this summer, but if the Chloe ones go on sale, I would be tempted!

    Love the Office raffia shoes - so very 1940s style. Will be seeking those out. Already have a pair of Faith shoes almost identical to the ankle strap 'wobble wedge' shown below the raffia ones. Sorted for summer!

    You can't go wrong with a wedge- elegantly high but much more 'all day friendly' than a heel.

    Dear Kate, they are lovely. I don't suit anything without an ankle strap. I've found a suede pair of raffia wedges in the Office sale that should arrive soon. I do love wedges and they're so much easier to totter about in xx

    For me, a wedge has to be high - this 'mid-heel' business is too clumpy for me. I'm a latecomer to the wedge phenomenon, believing for ages that that they were too cumbersome, but their height is the only thing that (literally) elevates them!

    They are gorgeous. I bought two leather pairs with enormous wood heels in TopShop's "Buy One Get One Free" sale four years ago and they are still going strong. xxx.

    Being a shortarse, wedges are practically my best friend. I need height though so I'm not keen on this weird mid-heel thing. Hope I can track down some this year that have a decent sized wedge to them.

    What is up with those raffia wedges, I cant decie if they are genius or hidious, know what I mean!! Keep your eye on the outnet they tend to get cheap Chloes on a lot. Im really lusting after a wedge this summer too, just havent seen the perfect pair yet - oh alright I have and they are Louboutin, but rather high and rather dear!!
