Bold eBay buy

The beauty of eBay is you can meander around and discover items you didn't mean to find and find a use for them! I still find there are plenty of good bargains to be had. Conversely when I'm selling it is a bit of a pain as things go for less than my greedy little mitts would want but I stick to the auction element of it on principal. I feel better if I sell honestly rather than setting a reserve or buy now price.

My recent eBay bargain was a See by Chloe top for £5.19. It is a size 16 but isn't that big and it doesn't matter as it will look fine loser and I can belt it as well. It was the perfect find completely by chance and I was taking a risk regarding the size. But I was drawn to the boldness of the stripes. It is perfect for this season with the influence of the big and bright Prada stripe bearing down on the high street. For £5.19 it is a cheap way to buy in to a trend that won't last!

What has been your best recent eBay purchase? Do you think eBay still provides bargains or is it getting overpriced in your experience?

  1. Oh I love it! What a bargain. I've mostly been buying coats from ebay recently - there are definitely bargains to be had.

ps - you are a genius. I bought some skinny flares yesterday and they look great, even if I do say so myself! I'd never have tried them on if it hadn't been for you.

  3. Bargain! eBay rocks and still offers tremendous value for money. We won a rare Georgian nine-panelled front door at the weekend for less than the cost of a modern B&Q reproduction. Mind you, we do have a 220 mile round trip to pick it up! xxx

  4. Super jumper! The stripes may be a short-term fashion but it's the kind of trend that surfaces every few years anyway so stash it away and it will 'come in' eventually I bet...

My best ever bargain was a wool suit, hand made... £1! It was 70s and sold as 'old' not '70s' so vintage folk were oblivious.

  6. Most recently I got another Patrick Kelly dress. It was inexpensive but now come the alterations...I just can't wear those giant '80s shoulders.

  7. Love the top! I think ebay is the best, I love it so much!! I buy and sell all the time and think you can get some excellent bargins. The only thing I dont like is the 'outlet' that I find over priced for last seasons tat, but thats just my opinion. I have sold things for more and things for less than what I paid, I have no qualms about making money if people are happy to pay it. I have a rather funny ebay story I have to blog about soon!

  10. I love Ebay though it can become a little addictive! You can definitely get a bargain if you are willing to trawl through some rubbish (I guess the equivalent of being bothered to rummage through charity shops, jumbles and car boot sales). I have had many bargains - a Myrene de Premonville skirt for 1p, a 50s dress that needed a tiny repair for 99p, a Romeo Gigli jacket for 99p....

  11. Dear Kate, that's a great bargain. There are still bargains to be had definitely but lots of people seem to bid and drive the price up now.

My best recent bargain has been those sequin Ralph Lauren trousers for £15 and a pair of silk pyjamas for £3.50 xx

  12. When I sell it is shit, I get crap money for really good stuff! £5 for a £150 Moschino jacket of Little Mans? WTF? but when I want to buy anything it gets bid up to loads of money, it really pisses me off!
