I love dresses. If funds permitted I would buy one for every day of the week. Indulgent, frivolous but true. Of course I would probably not be so extravagant if I bought this dress from Valentino as I might take on a Miss Havisham persona and wear it every day. At £2,500 it is in my dreams!
Even though I have no money I always go in to all the designer shops in Sloane Street, Bond Street, Mount St, the concessions in Harrods and Selfridges everywhere. I love to see how the garments are in reality. In truth I'm am often disappointed by the reality but Prada and Valentino never disappoint. However this year Valentino steals the show. The Valentino shop in Sloane Street is beautiful in respect of interior, layout but mainly the clothes. And the staff are always very nice and well mannered in there, something I suspect Valentino has insisted on.
It's a beaut, that's for sure! And I'm with you on the dress front, as you know - I dream of owning an Erdem frock... x
ReplyDeleteHi there-a stunning dress indeed, its lovely to walk down Sloane Street and do some visual window shopping!! xxx
ReplyDeleteI fell in complete lust with a dress in the window of Salvatore Ferragamo in Sloane Street at the weekend. Even though I'll never dare go in any of the shops, it's always much fun to window shop.
ReplyDeleteI had a skirt once like the one on that dress, I wonder what happened to it? Must go search the archives. Imagine having the budget to spend on 2500 dresses, I don't know if I could do it.
ReplyDeleteThat is very true, my friend and I were shopping for her wedding dress and were appauled to find a £2000 Burberry dress not only made from polyester so rough you could exfoliate with it but hanging on the rail with tears in the lace!!!
ReplyDeleteI quite like to have a browse too - it's always inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness I live so far away from civilisation that I am never in a position to experience such wanton gorgeousness that is this frock
ReplyDeleteJust ivine - just get it and don't bother paying your Council TAx :-)
AX
That's good to know - I never entered their store, mainly because I have little L in tow and shop assistants seem to be allergic to little kids. Mind you, she's very well behaved. So no need to be snobby. Anyway. Gorgeous dress!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous but actually I do have a similar dress from the 1950s London couture fashion house, Lachasse. And available for less than one eighth of the Valentino price. (I shall be taking it to Frock Me! vintage fashion fair at Chelsea Town Hall on Sunday 10 April if anyone's interested...)
ReplyDeleteElegancemaison - oh do tell more and your blog seems to have gone, the link is not working!
ReplyDeletePerfect!
ReplyDeleteValentino is glamour!
