If you haven't got your sequin top or Sarah Lund jumper handily poised for Christmas Day then I suggest you don't worry, grab a glass of prosecco and dance along to this. Merry Christmas!!

Buon Natale
How has Christmas come upon us in such an unexpected fashion this year. One moment it was all about November and the next it seems like New Year is already here. Anyway that's my excuse for being too busy to post and I am sticking with it!

The C Word part deux
These suggested gifts are for the MAGPIE family or friend person. All that glitters is not necessarily gold but they'll love then any way. All items are under £20 which is a good benchmark to have as a cap on anyone you are buying for. Money doesn't grow on trees and depending on the size of your Christmas gift list it is good Girlynomics sense to agree with everyone not to go mad. Quite frankly you;ll need the extra pennies and pounds for your Chrimbo heating bill!
I've selected a couple of gold related items from different brands which are all quite simple and I'd like to think tasteful for a gift:

Th C Word
Realistically I should wait until after bonfire night until I mention Christmas, however I'm changing my approach this year and getting everything done re: Christmas shopping before bonfire night. My logic is, if I get it all out of the way I can enjoy the fun and frolics of the festive season. Also if you get it all done now there is no way you'll be tempted to buy cute little extras that always appear nearer Christmas and look so beguiling. Plus you can buy second class stamps and send your cards on the 1st of December!
Over the next few days I will be selecting some great Christmas gifts you can get now. Make your list and allocate a budget and be a joiner!

Christmas presents repeat
It is no secret that every year I try very hard not to spend some money with Shot Dead in the Head but invariably fail. They are my go to place for the men in my life's Chrimbo presents. This year the respective brother-in-laws are the unwitting recipients of a t-shirt and a mug. The mug for brother-in-law 2 is very naughty but right up his street. Luckily he'll be able to keep it at his mates flat where he abodes a few nights a week due to work, I'm not sure it will be welcome at home! (this is the link but I have warned you!)
Brother-in-law one is the only person I have ever met who arrived at a cottage prior to a wedding wearing a laptop on either side. He has never lived this down despite it being many years ago so plenty of geek fodder to find. I was torn between two t-shirt this one and this one but felt the latter was a bit cruel but not as cruel/funny as this one - I was crying it is so wrong but ....
And this year I succumbed to a present to myself. I love The Killing and seeing as I can't afford a Gudrun & Gudrun sweater I have consoled myself with this t-shirt!

Starry Sparkly night
Well thanks to some eejit(s) who decided to cut through the BT wires in an attempt to get copper wires I was left without internet of phone access for 56 hours! This was not good. Therefore this post is later than intended. Plus I couldn't read any blogs, browse the internet, tweet - in fact all manner of everyday nonsense I engage in. It made me bereft. However I did realise I was so new school and reliant on all things geeky. Thank goodness for my iphone and 3G. It made me wish I'd got 3G on my ipad but I know where all this geekiery gets me now.
Post no internet trauma I made a trip to Staples and purchased some good old fashioned items that had I had during internet trauma I would have been able to do some other work. The said items are a stapler and a hole punch. Simple fare but now I realise they are exceedingly useful. My project is to complete my home office in the New Year, I'm getting organised and this is scaring me.
Back to Friday night which was the point of this post. I actually went to a corporate Christmas party. We didn't stay very long as I didn't know anyone but it was really nice and I had fun whilst I was there. I wore a gorgeous Isabella Oliver 365collection sequin dress from their S/S11 collection and sparkly gold shoes. Not Miu Miu but Zara.
Not great photos taken by Mr MDS on the iphone but they'll do. My dress was party perfect as were the M&S Autograph 15 denier tights and my Zara shoes. The Zara shoes were such fun to look at. Mr MDS and I took a walk over the Hungerford footbridge and St Paul's and all the sights looked lovely. There was a Christmas market on the Southbank so we strolled around it to the sounds of Bing Crosby and Doris Day. It was actually really romantic and quite cinematic. Especially as we were dressed up to the nines. Isn't it funny how the simplest of evenings can be the best.

Mulled wine and hot roasted chestnuts completed my outfit.

The Christmas Miracle
Dearest Alex of Odd Socks and Pretty Frocks sent me a Christmas Pom Pom necklace. In the midst of snow and no deliveries; whilst people couldn't fly anywhere or travel even a mile without hardship, a pom pom necklace that was posted from Liverpool on one day arrived the next day in South London.

Then on Christmas Eve morning, a gorgeous parcel arrived from Queen Marie of Kingdom of Style, again I was given much Christmas cheer. A fabulous Christmas necklace and an addition for my tree. I also had my lovely belated birthday pressies but I'm keeping those to myself.

How wonderful is the blogosphere. It defies modernity in its old fashioned values of correspondence and yet it is in its very essence of now. Receiving my lovely gifts was pure Dickens and Austen brought alive in the 21st century. All hail blogging and have a wonderful festive time whether you celebrate Christmas or not.

Happy Christmas...
...and a Prosperous New Year. What with snow, school, filming and last minute holiday things to sort out, I will spare you the pain of pointless posts from now until Christmas Day!
It leaves me only to say that Make Do Style thanks one and all, for all your comments and contributions, during 2010. Please place an order with WendyB by Dec 25th to help Sister Wolf.
Then things hot up in the MDS world after Christmas with lots of news and changes a foot.
Meanwhile I leave you with a 3 wise women photo of sorts, all 3 are absorbed in their own thoughts ...so raise a glass, clear your head and look forward to the new year and new beginnings, ... after all a woman's work is never done! Stay stylish xxx

Oh the feeling inside is merry
After the birthday bash which ran from Friday to Sunday for the petit garcon (he likes a party or two) the tree was bought and decked. The black and white theme has been a success although I do think I need to buy a few more black baubles to add to the tree.

Dress a blogger for Hanukkah, Christmas, Happy Holidays
Perhaps I'm taking the easy option today by dressing this blogger for the festive season because she probably would wear anything just to try it on. For Christina from Fashion's Most Wanted I've chosen a daytime look imaging Christina dispensing mince pies around the East End with good cheer.
Of course I have to get the basics right so this jumpsuit from French Connection is the perfect starting point and it is on sale now at £120
Then we need a knit to add a layer of warmth, buttoned up of course!

I wouldn't want her catching a cold so this knitted turban £20 from ASOS is just the ticket to keep her warm.
Whilst the muffler will keep her hands and the mince pies toasty!

These Topshop clog boots are fitting for the 'hard times' East End and will help her to stomp around plus add a clash of colour to the rest of the outfit. Note, jumpsuit must be tucked in giving slight cosack feel to this look.
You know what I fancy this look myself!

Make it black and white
I love a Christmas tree theme and when Next sent me some twelve days of Christmas images I felt inspired and some of my churlish, bored of cold, not doing Christmas pout began to melt.

I've been inspired to do a black and white theme now this year. I was toying with gold and white but the French Hen above swung it for me with the oh so cute beret. And when I found these gorgeous glittery stags on the Next website the deal was sealed. Now all I have to do is get the tree...

Dress a blogger for Hanukkah, Christmas, Happy Holidays
The perfect foil for a minimalist almost Helmut Newton esque Chrimbo look it the lovely That's Not My Age
Suited and booted has become a recent hit for celebs to wear to events and I must say I've always had a soft spot for the old tux, white shirt and trousers combo. My two favourite looks are Julie Christie in Don't Look Know (1973) wearing trousers and a metallic cardigan and Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction (1994) with the white shirt and trousers.
I know TMNA likes her clean lines but I've selected a few twists to the more strict minimalist look as I know she will look uber glamorous in this outfit for the festive season.

Dress a blogger for Hanukkah, Christmas, Happy Holidays
This weeks centre stage is Vintage Vixen. I was mindful of her thrifty ways so have avoided spending a fortune and have made sure I've got some charity shop action in!
Thank goodness for my987wardrobe.com it is the perfect place to get a bargain and have fun too. Vix is not a wilting flower with her love of colour and is the queen of creating an outfit based on a theme. I've gone with a late sixties look for our Vix.
It is short but bursting with texture and colour a sequin print dress at £9.87

Some nice thick opaque tights in black given how chilly it is! And these from Dorothy Perkins promise to be supersoft at £8.

The second hand black shoes are £6.00 from Cancer Research

Faux fur jacket £9.87
And as a final touch a long gold looking second hand
chain from Cancer Research for £4

Dress a blogger for Hanukkah, Christmas, Happy Holidays
After our fun and frolics last Thursday and the fact this blogger bought me a much needed G&T, how could I not pick the lovely Claire of WaceyStyle to fantasy dress for the festive season.
