It will come down to price but it is nice to debate the choice. I really want a pea coat jacket as my winter's coat. I've longed for one for years but never found the right one or never had the funds. I'm torn between a Nicole Fahri or a See by Chloe one. I did also see a wonderful Valentino Red on in Selfridges but it was £550! It has to be navy, so both tick that box. It needs to make me think of Ali McGraw in Love Story that is another tick for both as well. What I'm faced with is budget wars which means the Nicole Fahri is bound to be the winner. If price wasn't an issue which would you choose?
I'd buy the Nicole Fahri and change the buttons on it.
ReplyDeleteI'd choose the first one, but then I always go for the bargain option so would end up with the NF one, then spend the next six months wishing I had bought the Chloe. I am a very complicated person you know.
ReplyDeleteI would order both and see which feels the nicest and looks the better cut, I think I prefer the lower one off... but you never know on ?? xx
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I actually quite like the gold buttons, and the NF seems a smarter shape (though that is prob cos the SbC is unbuttoned). I like the cuff detailing on the SbC, and the curved collar. However, I don't like the button hole tab sticking out on the collar, it is untidy. On the other hand, this means you can fasten it to the neck, which makes it more versatile. I do also like it when coats have the metal chain for hanging, so they don't get pulled out of shape. I think the SbC wins by a small margin, but Farhi blows it out of the water on price.
ReplyDeleteI spose it's be wrong to get both?
ReplyDeleteHi there-I'll admit to be drawn more to the NF one for the cut and buttons, more timeless in my opinion!! Both are really nice x
ReplyDeleteI think the one she was wearing was from the Army/Navy store.
ReplyDeleteIf you Google it you should be able to find the store online or at least look at one. Truthfully, they are really nice, probably less expensive, and the Original item... If you choose to go without the designer label. Here's a link to a online store that I've used.

I prefer the collar onm the Chloe one, but would go for NF, probably, because of the sidey pockets and the buttons. And because it looks more shaped, but as penny dreadful said that's probably just the way it's been photographed.
ReplyDeleteCuriously, I had never heard of the term 'pea coat' until I read your post. I would have described these as reefer jackets. Well you live and learn... thanks Kate!
ReplyDeleteI like the skinnier cut of the Fahri better.
ReplyDeleteGet the NF - Wool is warmer for winter
ReplyDeleteI would choose the Chloe coat and then dream of walking through the snow with a young Ryan O'Neal saying 'Love means never having to say you're sorry . . .'
ReplyDeleteIt was love at first sight with the Chloe - I had hoped it was the Fahri. Alas. Sigh. Its a beautiful coat.

ReplyDeleteHmm tough choice. Personally I would go Farhi as it nips in at the waist but your taller than me so would look good in the looser cut Chloe. Order both, have a good try on and keep the one you LOVE. Otherwise you will always be wondering if you chose the right one. After longing after the Burberry sheepskin I picked up cheap one which is lovely but I was still hankering after Burberry, until I actually went and tried it on and it did not suit me. Sometimes you just cant tell with these things!
ReplyDeleteP.S Got my Pradas today YAY!!
Oh my I think the buy and try both advice is very good. I'll only keep one!
