In the midst of pea coat obsession (I've weighted all your wonderful advice and all will be revealed soon) I did manage to fulfil one of my projects on my to do list around the much neglected house. Spurred on by the vain hope of a visit from
That's Not My Age for her Home series and the fact Mr MDS has moved us up a bracket from shabby to chic with his longed for Nespresso coffee machine, I plunged into action.
Action consisted of a trip to IKEA and Homebase and an internet purchase which won't turn up for 2 weeks - it is a Union Jack rug. I mixed in my old Andy Warhol flower print, a Habitat flower pot and a vintage mirror with new items from IKEA. I also put the
petit garcon's postcards in a frame above his new clothes peg. The hallway was painted with Farrow & Ball Slipper Satin.
A bit blurry but you can spot the IKEA Hemnes shoe cabinet thing a mile off!
Vintage china pot from Mr MDS's recently departed Nana
Lamp IKEA (grand total of £8 with bulbs)
Flowers from Waitrose, British grown ones
Poppet the elephant (I talk to her and caught petit garcon showing her the garden the other day. She looks after our house) with new foliage and an old White Company seat bench with basket drawers behind.
Aw, such a cute elephant story.
ReplyDeleteLooks so clean and fresh, the more work we are doing the more I notice we need to get a decorator in ... shabby chic is certainly the trend here. Good job its an old house xx
ReplyDeleteTNMA mansions is looking particularly shabby at the moment so I'm impressed by your tidy house. The clothes peg/picture frame arrangement is very fine, and if there's a Nespresso on offer....
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing the Union Jack rug. I would love one but I don't think the Scottish man in the house would approve.
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely! Wish I had room in my hall for one of those shoe cupboards, the only bit of wall big enough has a radiator on it!
ReplyDeleteI have a freaky obsession with IKEA. I don't exactly think they do the most stylish of furniture in the world (although they always have lots of good bits) but I LOVE shopping there. Also they make really good chips.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so into Union Jack pillows at the moment, so can't wait to see this rug!
Union jack rug?? Mod-tastic. I heartily approve!!
ReplyDeleteYour house is lovely!
The rug sounds great, I have been debating the cusions but then it led to a new rug and curtains .... so I bought shoes instead LOL
ReplyDeleteWe have one of those shoe cabinets! My dad cleverly put it in the coat room under the stairs so you'd never guess it was there! Actually, it's kind of awkward to get to now that I think about it.
ReplyDeleteOoooh lovely. I do need to do something organize my shoes. It's out of control.
ReplyDeleteNow thats a nice welcoming hallway! You know what would look good hanging in there, a new pea-coat, have you thought about that?
ReplyDeleteYour home is gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteYour hallway looks fab and I love the Ikea shoe cupboard which I had been checking out myself on my last Ikea trip.
ReplyDeleteHow amazing to find a narrow piece to fit in the hallway. Practical and pretty, well done.

ReplyDeletePoppet the elephant - love it.
