The fashion editors say no, you say yes!

In or out; so now, so then. Going up or down. Does anyone take any notice of these quips and directives anymore? Remember the not allowed to wear Ugg boots nor pashminas dictates.

I ask the question based on the fact Mango and few other stores are reworking the maxi dress again in their stores for the coming season. Will you be ignoring the trends and wearing last years maxi again?

  1. Hi there-hmm, not sure on that one. I don't own a floral maxi dress, but if I find one thrifting thats worth getting, I will wear it. I won't go looking specifically for one though.

  2. I look terrible in them - far too short and wide, so I'm definitely not buying them. We had them in all our cheapy chain stores this summer here (for about the fourth summer running), still didn't really full take off as a trend though.

  3. I'm also too short and wide to wear a maxi, but that doesn't mean that other taller slender folks shouldn't keep wearing them. Pah to the fashion editors, I say!!

  4. I've got one that's a holiday number but I never saw or foudn one that works in a city environment but last year loads of Londoners sparnag forth in them - I will be looking to see if they do it again!

  7. Tee hee. Not a CHANCE. But mainly because I never did cave to this trend.

  8. I wore vintage maxis for years before the self-annointed fashion royalty gave the style a stamp of approval. I'll wear them for years to come. I so don't care about these one-season fads that people have for things.

  10. I was never a big subscriber to the maxi . . . didn't wear them last year and won't be wearing them this year. BUT I do love a fabulous strapless gown!

  11. Oh god I have nightmares about the maxi, from two years ago I thought it would be a wonderful idea to wear one: wrong.
It drowned me. Or I drowned in it, I resembled a tent with feet poking out the bottom...the maxi sends me shivers.

  15. I never got a maxi dress last year, but I'd love to have one. Just because I like it, not because anyone told me I should.

  16. not a big fan of the floral maxi--but i'll probably be wearing my solid color maxis from last year. I like them and they're comfy :-) can't beat that!

  18. I'm tall so I love maxi dresses - as long as they're properly long and don't look too busy. It makes me laugh how fash editors gasp about the New Nautical or the New Tribal when it looks remarkably like the Old Tribal from Last Year. The hippy trend is another one - Hippy Luxe I think they call it. Or is it 'Working that Hippy Look'? Or Edgy Hippy? (Or just bollocks . . . .)
