Mad Men fashion - Sally

I know Joan, Betty or Peggy should be my favourite Mad Men fashion fix but truly every week my heart gets captivated by Sally. When I see her clothes I always wish girls dressed like this still. There is something put together about her look - it is a reminder of when children's fashion was a better adaptation of grown up garb.

Come on would you put your daughter in Sally's wardrobe or some hideous faux or real Juicy Couture trackie. There I've 'nailed' my Juicy Couture feelings to the post. I digress, so back to Sally.

Sally has the most gorgeous necklace and I want it!

  1. I do love the way children are dressed like children on that show. Ugh! The world is topsy turvy now. Children dress like adults and adults dress like children.
I love Sally's therapist. She may be the best therapist on TV, ever.;-)

  3. I love all the fashion on Mad Men, everything is so feminine, and I agree that Sally's clothes are how children should dress. Mad Men is brilliant - I worked as a secretary in the motor industry at the end of the 70's and office culture was just like that!

  4. I live in Southern Spain and young children here dress like children. They look gorgeous, both boys and girls. Girls with huge ribbons in their hair and dresses with little cardies. Boys with bermudas with kneehigh socks and matching cardies. Sometimes you see families with all children dressed similarly. It's truely lovely and stylish. The Sartorialist had a photo on his blog recently of a boy in Madrid. That's the way they dress.

  6. I love Peggy's wardrobe too. She had a gorgeous number on in the last of the series. Very Prada. Very lovely. I could watch that series over and over just for the design and the fashion.

  7. Dear Kate, I love this look. The red tights with the yellow blouse look great too.

I must get the box set. I must be the only person apart from Ruth that hasn't seen it xx

  9. If I have my druthers, Baby Herald is dressing like Sally, and won't don anything with "Juicy" on her rear! I will, however, keep dressing her in jackets with mouse ears for as long as possible.

  10. Really sweet, age-appropriate style. To be honest, I wouldn't even dress my enemies in Juicy Couture trackies.

  11. I love proper girls dresses. Does it mean something weird about me that I have real hankerings for some shops to do grown up versions of their kids dresses? I would love a red cord pinafore dress so much.

  12. Purchasing clothes for children around here is not pleasant. Judging from the shops here once a girl turns 8 the only option is to dress like a little ho in training. I have so many issues with children's clothing.

As parents we have a responsibility to teach our children how to dress appropriately. You should see some of the things parents send their kids to school in on free dress day. You'd think they were off to the beach or a nightclub. Little wonder that many of them think Paris Hilton is a role model!

    More Sally less Paris!!

  13. Aw, what a cutie. I should really give the show another shot, shouldn't I. It just annoys me that no-one ever says what is wrong, too much stoicism!
