Frozen assets and ice cool icon

Whilst my will power might flounder on occasions, I have not succumbed to any frittering. with my focus firmly on paying back masters loan I'm a model pupil in the school of restraint.

This is aided by a forthcoming V&A museum exhibition from the 17 April - 26 September 2010. I wait in trepidation for Grace Kelly: A Style Icon. With this feast of curation to look forward to I can steel my mind on what is to come rather than caving in and buying anything.

  6. Kate: Somehow I managed to stop myself from buying 16 things at the best sale I've seen in a year. Amazing designer stuff for totally reasonable prices. No doubt won't be there in 2 months. But I guess that's not the point. Oh, I'm coming to terms with my instant gratification nature. Or not. This is a fascinating experiment. All I can think of is what I'm going to buy eventually :-)

PS: How does one buy at the end? Is it a one item splurge or a dollar amount one? How does that work according to the challenge?

  7. K-Line good question ref what to buy. I think it is down to personal choice either have an amount to spend or buy one item. I'm thinking just one item and one I'd normally not buy because I would have spent the money on instant gratification. Well done on the 16 items of designer stuff - did you total up the amount because you could put that to your pile come 1st of April. It won't be April fools day it will be BIG SPLURGE day.

  11. Funny, I just went through an Erwin Blumenfeld book yesterday and marvelled at all his techniques and effects he achieved in the dark room (and which are now all so easy with photoshop). So looking forward to this exhibition!

  13. Glad to have the exhibit info handy, though I won't be in town.

When I was searching for wedding gowns, I had Grace Kelly's in mind. The regal lace sleeves and silk bodice were everything I hoped could be. Unfortunately, Grace is really the only one who can wear this number with true elan. Statuesque, I am not, which only reminds me I have to find my own look. Only then can I be a graceful Kelly. This is a good Friday lesson, no?
