Maxi, Midi, Mini - bags

I know the fashion editors will try and tell you it is all about Celine's boxy lady like number and yes it is when it comes to being up there with the current 'pillars' of fashion. But, one needs a bag for every occasion/situation.

Now in MDS world there is no scrimping on a handbag. A proper handbag is a must. Much as I'm keeping it lean currently, nothing beats a big 'un. Mindful of the economic strain even the maxi choice is way under the average handbag price (which is £923 and rising just so you know).

Michael, Michael Kors Uptown Astor Large leather tote £360 Net-A-Porter

In the Midi section is this number from Jigsaw who produce their bags in the same factory as Prada so I'm led to believe.

Just punching in below a ton is this one from Topshop. Which ever you choose you'll get all your bits and pieces in, no need to edit.

  1. Oh darn it, of course I like the Michael Kors best! It is the gold - I can't abide silver hardware on handbags, no idea why but it has to be gold for me.

  3. I'm the opposite of Penny and don't like gold bits on a bag, so I would definitely plump for the Topshop one -so not like me to prefer the cheaper option!

  4. None are really my thing, I am totally off anything with studds. Michael Kors do some beautiful bags though and their price range is pretty good.

  5. I tend to be developing an inability to love a bag that doesn't have leather that feels so good that I want to pet it. Me thinks that the Kors is the most pet worthy.

  6. Seriously love the Jigsaw one, I love incredible simple black leather bags. Might have to consider making a purchase once my boyshape gets a job! x

  7. You know, I love the Top Shop one as I always like the choice to wear it messenger style - plus I like the embellishments. Great choices!

  8. I like the Michael Kors one a lot although I have just realised it's very similar to a John Rocha one I got from Debenhams a couple of years ago for about £70 so am feeling contented with my bargain hunting skills :)

I'd never buy leather bags online though - I have to touch them first because a high price doesn't always equal decent quality.

  9. I do prefer the TopShop one to all of them but I'm not a massive fan of black bags, bit too corporate-looking and dull for frivolous old me. xxx

  10. Great choices, I love a big handbag. The only problem is I tend to pile everything in the bag and its like I'm carrying a pile of books!

  12. I am with Wilderness chic here. However the bigger the bag the more we tend to carry, that and my camera and my poor back starts to creak. Then the physio ends up costing way more than any bag.....Xxxx

  13. Ridiculous bags and ridiculous prices. Just got back from a mini-break in Spain where these flashy downmarket style bags are everywhere. But if you like them - there's a tat tourist shop in Torremolinos that sells a close version of the Michael Cors bag. In stylish black nylon type fabric (similar to that used by Longchamps pliage range) rather than leather but at only 14 euros (£12). Enough to take you through the latest fast fashion fad.

  14. Dear Kate, I buy a good bag then use it til something breaks. The Michael Kors bag is cheaper than I thought they were. Hope you're good, I would have loved to have come for lunch yesterday but I had appointments, next time? xx
